Girls Basketball

Lowville at Oneida


After a sluggish start, Oneida came out firing in the second half.  With a 22 point 3rd qtr, Oneida pulled away to beat Lowville 58-41.  Sydney Lusher lead the way with a game-high 18 points; hitting 4 three-pointers.  Lauren Skibitski and Ella Rainbow added 14 and 10 respectively.  Julianna Cavanagh had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.  Anna Hood grabbed 11 rebounds.  The Indians are now 18-3 on the year and will host #5 seed Westhill on Tuesday night.

Oneida vs VVS


Oneida had 15 points in the first quarter; all 3 pointers, to give them a 15-6 lead over TVL rival VVS.  Ella Rainbow had 16 of her 24 in the first half; with 5 3's.  Lauren Skibitski added 17; 13 of which came in the second half.  Oneida had 10 3's on the night.  With the 56-41 win, Oneida claims their first TVL title since 2007-2008. Oneida finished the TVL on a 11 game win streak after losing the first TVL game of the year at Utica ND; finishing the year with a 11-1 record in the TVL.  Anna Hood added 12 rebounds and 4 huge points late in the 4th qtr.  Julianna Cavanagh added 7 boards and 6 points.  With a 17-3 record, Oneida finds out who they play on Wednesday.  It is Coach Nestler's first coaching TVL league title after winning five as a player for Oneida.

Oneida at CVA


Oneida clinches at least at share of the TVL with their victory Friday night over CVA.  The Indians are 16-3 and 10-1 in the TVL.  Ella Rainbow and Lauren Skibitski lead the way for the Indians with 18 and 17 respectively in their 56-33 victory over the Thunder of CVA.  Anna Hood had 10 rebounds and Julianna Cavanagh had 8 rebounds.  Oneida will travel to rival VVS on Monday night to wrap up the regular season and win the league title outright.  Oneida hasn't won the league title since 2007-2008.

Camden vs Oneida


On Senior Night, Oneida came out strong with a 21-7 1st qtr. vs. TVL opponent Camden.  Ella Rainbow had 16 of her game high 24 points in the 1st quarter.  Lauren Skibitski added 13 for the hosts.  Julianna Cavanagh chipped in 7 points and 4 rebounds and was honored at halftime with her NYS Triple Jump Champion Banner. Senior Lauren Hopkins netted her second three of her career.  Oneida improves to 15-3 and 9-1 in the TVL.  The Indians look to clinch at least a share of the league title on Friday at CVA.

Oneida at Homer


With 58 seconds left Oneida 41-37.  Oneida's Sydney Lusher knocked down a FT to put Oneida up 42-37 which was the final.  Oneida was lead by Julianna Cavanagh with 18 points, 12 of which came in the second half.  She also had 10 rebounds to give her a  double-double.  Ella Rainbow had 10 points and Sydney Lusher had 9 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists.  Anna Hood pulled down 9 rebounds.  Oneida hosts Camden on Tuesday for Senior Night at 7 PM.

Oneida at Central Square


With Lauren Skibitski out sick, Oneida lost a tough one on the road to Central Square 47-37.  With the score tied at 30-30 late in the 3rd qtr, Central Square's Breanna Ransom buried a deep 3 to give the home team the lead and they never looked back.  Oneida was lead by Julianna Cavanagh with 13 points and 9 rebounds.  Oneida looks to rebound from the loss on Wednesday night as they host RFA in a TVL match up. Oneida is 12-3 on the year.

Whitesboro vs Oneida


Whitesboro scored the first two points of the game and Oneida scored 10 in a row to take the 10-2 and never lost it.  After a 21-8 1st quarter, Oneida led 33-14 going into halftime.  Whitesboro got as close as 10 in the second half but Oneida kept their composure and held on for the 18 point victory.  Lauren Skibitski led all scores with 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 blocks.  Ella Rainbow had 15 points and 4 steals.  Julianna Cavanagh had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.  Anna Hood also added 10 rebounds and 4 points.  Oneida improves to 12-2 on the year and looks to advantage an earlier loss at Central Square on Monday night.

Oneida vs VVS


Oneida's Ella Rainbow led all scores with 22 as Oneida knocked off TVL rival VVS 60-41.  Lauren Skibitski had 18 points including 4 three-pointers in the win.  Julianna Cavanagh added 10 points and Sydney Lusher grabbed 12 rebounds, 6 points and 7 assists for the Indians.  Oneida improves to 11-2 on the year.  After leading by 3 at the end of the 1st quarter, Oneida pulled away to lead by 13 at the half.  VVS never got closer than 7 in the second half as Oneida picked up the TVL victory.  Oneida plays Whitesboro Friday night at home; tip is set for 7 PM

Oneida at Proctor


Oneida improved to 9-2 with a 66-51 win over Proctor.  Oneida was lead by Lauren Skibitski's 27 points  and 5 3-pointers.  Sydney Lusher dished out 10 assists and netted 8 points.  Anna Hood grabbed 8 rebounds along with 6 points.  Sophia Skinner and Gabby Cafalone came off the bench and chipped in 6 and 5 respectively.  The Indians play home Monday night at 6:30 vs. APW.

Oneida at ND


Oneida handed ND their first loss of the season on a 69-63 victory over the Jugglers.  Oneida lead by 1 at halftime with Lauren Skibitski scoring 17 of her game-high 27 points in the first half.  Going into the 4th quarter, Oneida lead 49-45. With four minutes to go Oneida's led 58-51.  Jugglers took the lead back 61-60 with 2 minutes to play.  Out of a timeout, Oneida's Lauren Skibitski knocked down a 3 to give Oneida back the lead for good.  Notre Dame began to foul to put Oneida at the line and Oneida's Sydney Lusher made 6 free throws to seal the victory for the Indians. 

Oneida is now 8-2 on the season and play at Proctor Friday night.

Oneida at NH


Oneida was down by 4 at the half.  They came out of halftime and outscored New Hartford 17-6 with Ella Rainbow scoring 9 of her game-high 20 points in the 3rd.  In the 4th quarter, Oneida lead 47-44 with 5 minutes to go when Julianna Cavanagh scored 12 unanswered to give Oneida at 59-44 lead.  Cavanagh finished with 16 in the game, all in the 2nd half.  Lauren Skibitski handed out 8 blocks in the contest.  Anna Hood finished with 5 points and 9 rebounds.  New Hartford's Kaia Henderson had 20 points in the loss.  Oneida hosts Notre Dame on Tuesday, tip is 7 PM.




1-9-18 Girls Baslketball

Oneida @ Central Square


Oneida lost a hard fought battle with Central Square at home.  Oneida lead at halftime 28-18.  Late in the 4th quarter, the game was tied 50-50. Central Square's Breanna Ransom hit a 3, followed by a Lauren Bell basketball putting Central Square up 55-50.  Oneida's Lauren Skibitski then hit a 3 with 8 seconds to go.  Oneida then fouled putting Lauren Bell on the line where she missed two free throws.  Oneida's Anna Hood pulled down her 14 rebound of the night on the miss and gave Oneida the ball with 5 seconds to go.  Oneida called a timeout and advanced the ball.  Oneida turned the ball over to end the game. 

Oneida plays at New Hartford on Thursday 1-11-18.



12-30-17 Girls Baslketball

Oneida vs Skaneateles / Chittenango Tourney


Oneida handed Skaneateles their first loss of the season with a 69-58 win in the Championship Game of the Chittenango More Than A Game Tournament.  Lauren Skibitski was named the MVP of the Tournament with 23 points, knocking down 5 3-pointers.  Sydney Lusher was named to the All-Tournament team with a 13 point effort, 7 of which came in the 4th quarter.  Olivia Dobrovosky also received All-Tournament honors for Skaneateles and scored her 1000th career point in the loss.  Oneida improves to 6-1 for the year.

Their next game is home on January 5th vs. RFA.

Oneida at Chitt. Chittenango Tourney


Oneida went down 37-36 with one minute to go when Lauren Skibitski drilled her 3rd three pointer of the night from the top of the key to put Oneida up 39-37 with 37 seconds left to go.  Sydney Lusher then knocked down two free throws for Oneida giving them a 41-37 edge.  Alivia Narolis then came down and hit a 3 to bring Chittenango to within one.  Sydney Lusher then sealed the contest with two more free throws sending Oneida to the Championship game
